Longer workweek puts women at increased risk of chronic disease, study findsData from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth suggest women who average more than 60 hours of work per week face triple the risk of developing arthritis, diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Outcomes worsened for women who worked more than 40 hours a week, while men who worked more than 40 hours a week had a greater risk of arthritis but a lower incidence of heart disease, depression and lung disease, according to the report in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
